Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher to adopt?

It’s being rumored now, thanks to the National Enquirer, that Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are looking to adopt.

It was said that the couple were so inspired by Barack Obama’s message of hope that they are looking to adopt through a private adoption agency.

They reportedly want to be parents by the summertime.  Apparently, they’ve had several failed attempts at invitro-fertilization.

A source says, “Both Ashton and Demi finally came to terms with the reality that [childbirth] is just not going to happen for them.  They had always resisted adoption because they wanted a baby of their own, but now everything has changed.  They feel this is the best thing that could happen because they are able to give a child a great, loving start in life.”

Do you think Ashton would make a good dad?  And now that Demi is 45, it might be easier for her to adopt anyways.

  1. I’m usually in favor of adults who want to have kids having them, whether biologically or otherwise. Ashton’s a nice Iowa boy, so I would hope he could help raise the kid with some Midwestern common sense to balance the glitz he or she will encounter from being in that family!

  2. Doesn’t Demi have, like, three other kids with Bruce Willis? I think the eldest is about 20. Personally, I’d be weirded out if my mom had another baby right now and I was more than 20 years older than my youngest sibling. But it’s nice that they want to do something like that for a child who needs a home, so go Demi and Ashton! :)

  3. I’m always in favor of adoption–celebrity couple or not. They’ll still have a child of “their own” without passing on their DNA. Personally, I always think it’s a bit strange when a couple decides to adopt AFTER they can’t conceive. It seems sort of like a concellation prize. (Like “Okay, we couldn’t make a mini-us so we guess we’ll adopt.”) I admire couples who go the adoption route whether they can have “their own” child or not. Being good parents is the most important thing, and there are tons of needy children. I agree that the age difference between the kids would be weird, but that it’s commendable for them to adopt if their hearts are in it.

  4. Okay…maybe Ashton needs to acknowledge his legacy with an embryo but this story sounds a little like “If you help me raise mine, I’ll have one with you.” Sorry, but that is the problem with a guy who is much younger…as the years grow their opinions on everything change. I know he was probably too young to make decisions of this sort when he hooked up with Demi, but it’s just a symptom. One minute they are not as annoyed with a neighbor remodeling but suddenly 6AM pounding takes on a whole new persona…as if now his status allows him to rage against the machine. I’ve been listening to the same noise next door for the last four months and last night this big re-do was featured on the MSNBC evening news saying they have lost their jobs and can’t afford this monstrosity that has erupted…and yet, I guess I don’t have the celeb clout to shout insults into the Hollywood air. Instead, I listen to the hammering and lack of conversation and move on with my day
