Even though his lookalike, Zac Efron, dropped out of the running, Chace Crawford had to audition for five hours before snagging the role of Ren McCormack.  The Footlose role was made famous by Kevin Bacon.

He says, “It was, like, five hours of the most rigorous tests ever. I walked out very confident.”

Of Efron’s passing on the part, he adds, “I know Zac, and we’re actually friends. He’s got to make the best choice for his career at this point, and I have to make the best for mine, and luckily it worked out for both of us.”

He also said that he doesn’t think the high-bar scene from the original movie is going to make it into the remake. 

He says, “I don’t know if the gymnastics high bar scene is going to make it. I’ve got some movement in me, but I’m not a dancer. I need to start stretching now!”

Oh boo.  Get Kevin freaking Bacon in there, he’d do it!  Besides that, since he got ripped off, doesn’t he need the money anyway?
